There are a lot of different perceptions on what Tantra actually is, especially in the western world.
However, within the Esoteric Tantric philosophies, Tantra is the connection with spirituality through our physical existence and everything in the universe. Essentially it is our connection with the divine through our physical body, which I believe is a pretty incredible experience when one is to learn tantra and implement it.
The Esoteric Tantric pathway is knowing thyself as both a form of matter, the body, a soul, and the higher self.Tantra also celebrates and honors the bodies pleasures and senses. It is one of the world's oldest spiritual paths, approximately 1500 years old, however it actually remains one of the history's greatest untold stories!
Tantra originated from many different lineages across Taoism, Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Jain, and the Geisha traditions.
It is a modality that utilizes sexual energy to connect with the divine, bring more pleasure to our lives and heal from our own karma. Tantra teaches us the gift of sacred love, where it lifts us from the lower primal sexual expression into the sacredness of the divine. This journey moves us from duality into unity, liberating us from the human kingdom into the kingdom of the divine.
Tantra is also heavily based on relationships.
Relationships are one of the most sacred and important aspects of our lives! This includes the relationship with ourselves, friends, family and partners. Most people desire to have a relationship that is based on connection, understanding, passion and harmony, however, most of us do not obtain this. We struggle with communication, intimacy issues, conflicts and incompatibilities where we never really find the sacred union in which our heart and soul deeply desires.
This is where implementing Tantra in your life can be of benefit. Tantra also focuses on love and connection. The ability to connect with yourself deeply and others, including your partner. Going from separation to connection. It is the ability to truly open oneself in love, whilst also receiving love.
This is where a beautiful dance of the masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) energies get to intertwine with one another, leaving no beginning and no ending, only expansion and divine union.
